Patients requiring memory care find a welcoming home at The Woodland. Memory Care provides a long term solution for those who have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. This care is given by highly trained staff who are familiar with the needs of people with memory issues.
The Watson Memory Care Center
The Watson Memory Care Center is a special part of The Woodland neighborhood for those who have Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory disorders. Our Memory Care Center is uniquely designed to restore a sense of worth and purpose to residents’ lives, allowing them to participate in daily life. Expert staff provide care specific for people with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders. A secure facility provides safety and security for patients, ensuring a familiar environment and supervision within the center.
A Meaningful Life for People with Dementia
People with dementia deserve a rich, meaningful life. Our communal area is the heart of the center. It has been designed to allow residents to socialize, play games and listen to music. A kitchenette and pantry are also located in this area so that residents with dementia can assist with meal prep. This restores feelings of normalcy and routine.
Familiar household tasks like planting flowers are also crucial to a sense of stability and well-being for our memory care residents. Our enclosed outdoor patio allows residents access to fresh breezes and sunshine while still remaining safe.
Safe, Comfortable Facilities
The Watson Memory Care Center has 20 newly renovated private rooms. Each room has an en-suite restroom featuring a walk-in luxury vinyl tile shower and numerous modern amenities.
Residents of the Watson Memory Care Center are encouraged to participate in various activities depending on their individual abilities. We seek to make each resident feel secure, safe and engaged. This can include gardening on the patio, helping prepare small snacks or listening to music in the common area.
High Staff-to-Resident Ratio
The Watson Memory Care Center features a high staff-to-resident ratio. This ensures each resident receives the attention, kindness, and supervision they need.
The Center meets the Department of Social Services definition of a safe, secure environment for individuals diagnosed by their physician as having a serious cognitive impairment.
Residents are monitored by 24-hour security to maintain their safety. Residents are escorted to all activities throughout The Woodland neighborhood.
Residents receive assistance with all activities of daily living, including three meals a day and snacks in between.
Memory Care in a Home-Within-Home Environment
Dementia and memory care patients enjoy time outside of The Watson Center, too. Residents have escorted access to The Woodland’s entire campus including the dining rooms, an ice cream parlor, coffee shop, dedicated activity spaces, sunrooms and other facilities. Providing a comfortable, engaging atmosphere for residents to experience not only the Watson Memory Care Center but all of The Woodland neighborhood is our top priority.
