A. The Woodland provides a complete range of retirement options including independent living, assisted living, 24-hour skilled care, and rehabilitative care with a seamless transition between different choices as needs arise.
Q. What type of dining services are offered at The Woodland?
A. The Woodland has led the way in the health care industry by moving from an institutional model of dining to a hospitality model. We have three chefs on staff who provide premium fine dining for our residents. The residents have nothing but praise for the meals they receive. Q. What kind of activities does The Woodland provide for residents?
A. There is no end to the opportunities to continue learning, growing and enjoying others’ company at The Woodland. Staff and volunteers provide a wide range of activities designed for the pleasure and well-being of our residents. In the town of Farmville, residents enjoy attending local theater productions, concerts by visiting symphonies, and trips to area art museums. Off-campus activities, such as shopping, sightseeing, winery trips, ball games, classes, etc. in the surrounding towns and cities, are made available and are consistently a favorite among members of The Woodland family.

Q. Do you have exercise equipment/classes?
A. Yes, The well-equipped Watkins Wellness Center is available to our residents during open-swim hours. The wellness center also offers numerous organized exercise classes and aquatic programs. Please see our Health Care page for more information.
Q. Where is the closest hospital?
A. The closest hospital is Centra Southside Community Hospital, less than one mile from The Woodland. Centra Southside consistently provides high-quality care.
Q. Are the residential facilities furnished or can I bring my own furniture?
A. We realize it is always best, when possible, to be surrounded by your own loved and familiar possessions. You completely furnish your own cottage in The Courts, our independent living community. You have the option of bringing your own things to your assisted living apartment. In our skilled-care rooms you may bring your own things within certain guidelines.
Q. How much does it cost to stay at The Woodland?
A. Independent living cottages at The Courts start at $1,200 per month. Semi-Private assisted living rooms start at $1,975 per month. Private rooms begin at $2,740.
